Placeholder Variables in Macros

Reviews, Surveys

More efficiently personalize review and survey responses.

You can now add placeholders to response macros. Placeholders provide visual indicators for responders to know which parts of the body to customize on the spot. A response macro that uses a placeholder will not be posted unless the responder enters their own text in place of the placeholder text.

To use placeholders in macros:

  1. From the top, right corner of the platform, click Settings .
  2. Add or edit a macro.
  3. Within the body where you want a placeholder, enclose the placeholder text within double curly brackets: {{your placeholder text here}}.
  4. Click Save.

The system prompts you to indicate the variable you’ve chosen is invalid and asks if you want to save anyway.

  1. Click Save Anyway.

The next time someone selects this macro in the Review or Survey response window, they cannot save the response until they replace the text within the placeholder.
