Calculated Custom Fields

Actions

Define expressions for calculated custom fields.

Calculated Fields allow you to make mathematical calculations on custom fields within the ticket detail. For example, if you have a “Total Amount” and “Number in Party” fields, you can calculate the amount per person: Total Amount / Number in Party.

If you are using other field values in your expression, you must create those custom fields first. Example: Area = {{Height*Width}}. Create the Height and Width custom fields prior to creating the Area field.

To create a new calculated field:

  1. From the top, right corner of the platform, click Settings .
  2. From the left navigation, click Actions.
  3. Click the Ticket Types tab.
  4. Click the Edit icon next to the ticket type you want to modify, or click Add Field.
  5. Set the field Type drop-down to Calculated.
  6. Set the Field Display drop-down to Text Box.
  7. In the Expression box, enter the expression for the calculation, surrounded by double brackets.
  8. Click Save.

Now whenever the values involved in the calculation are entered, the calculated field will populate. Note that in the following example, all custom fields (Height, Width, Area) are within a custom field group (Apartment Size).
